Soldiers of the Hungarian infantry who were on duty in royal border fortresses. Their name comes from the fact that during the check of their clothes, horse, weapons and other equipment before payment their names and the amount of money they got were registered into a booklet, the so-called check list. Their payment was two Hungarian forints a month.
