jus Regium

It meant royal right, royal share right, according to which the estates of a nobleman who was guilty of disloyalty or treason and was sentenced to death and the confiscation of his possessions would fall to the share of the king or the Transylvanian principal - who could give those estates away. The Székelys were exempted from this (immunitas), since the estates of rebelling noblemen fell to the lot of the Székely community. In accordance with the decisions made in 1562 in Segesvár this immunitas (exemption) was cancelled and jus Regium was introduced in the Székely land as well.
