Sultan Mehmed II (1430-1481)

The seventh Sultan of the Osman Empire (1444-1446, 1451-1481), he mounted the throne twice. His first reign ended at the time of a big yanichars revolt (then his father took power), but during the thirty years of his second reign he was very successful. His biggest military success was the occupation of Byzantium, for which he received the attribute "Fatih" (Conqueror). He was a conscientious ruler, he longed to rule the whole world. He completed the institution of sultan's absolute power (for example, he enacted a law, according to which the member of the ruling family was obliged to have all his male relatives killed) and made his country a real world power.
