the Kőszeg expedition

Kőszeg
Miklós Jurisics
After the unsuccessful 1529 campaign Sultan Suleyman launched another campaign against Vienna in 1532. This time he did not use the traditional Danube route, but he pushed forward along the river Drava, as far as the small fortress of Kőszeg. Under the leadership of Miklós Jurisics, the guards of the fortress (there were only a couple of hundred) resisted the siege for about three weeks (5-30 August). In the meanwhile Suleyman I gave up his plan to attack the imperial army in Vienna.
