Kassa (Košice, Slovakia)

Kassa
It was the centre - we could say capital - of the north-eastern part of medieval, then new age Hungary, which was called the northern Hungarian district (13 counties). It was a free royal town and played a significant role in the economic life of the country and in the development of bourgeois mentality. It was the leader and centre of the so-called five northern Hungarian towns (Kassa, Lġcse, Eperjes, Bártfa and Kisszeben).
