Rudolph II. (July 18, 1552. Wienna-January 20, 1612, Prague)

Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire (1576-1612), king of Hungary (1576-1608) and Bohemia (1576-1611). One of the most controversial Habsburg rulers who in 1583 moved his court from Vienna to Prague where instead of politics he mainly dealt with and patronised the arts and sciences. (for instance, he patronised Johannes Kepler the famous astronomer).
