George (György) Podjebrád

He was born to a rich Moravian family in 1420. His father became a Hussite. He himself joined the Chalice party and took part in the battle of Lipany when he was young. He supported Ladislaus V, and in 1452 was appointed as governor, then on 2 March, 1458 he was elected Czech king. In 1466 Pope Pius II declared him a heretic, and he was excommunicated. He died on 22 March, 1471. Although he had four sons, he offered the throne to the Jagellos.

Katharine (Katalin) Podjebrád

She was born in 1449 as the daughter of George Podjebrád. She was called Kinigunda in the Czech state. In accordance with a treaty between Matthias Hunyadi and his father signed on 9 February, 1458 in the Moravian Strassnitz (today Straznice) she became Matthias's fiancée. She arrived in Hungary in 1461 and the wedding was held in May. In February, 1464 she died in childbirth.
