Amádé Aba, Druget family
Amádé Aba
Member of the Aba clan, governor of Northern-East Hungary. He bore many titles, among others he was palatine from 1293. From 1304 till his death he was Charles I's supporter. His power extended over the counties Abaúj, Zemplén, Szepes, Sáros, Ung, Szabolcs, Bereg, his residence was in Gönc. In September 1311 he was killed by the citizens of Kassa, his sons turned against the king and fought in the battle of Rozgony.

The Druget family
A French family of Italian origin. Philip came to Hungary in Charles I's escort. He bore various offices, from 1323 he was palatine, then the office was inherited in the family. In 1328 his brother, John became palatine, from 1334 his eldest son, William was the palatine till his death in 1342. They were the ispáns [bailiff] of several North-Eastern Hungarian counties, and they had their family estates here, too. Their residences were in Gönc and Szepesvár. After William's death a part of their estates was seized by the king. After this, the family was divided into two branches: the Gerény and Homonnai sides.
