He was born in 1354. His father, Angevine prince, Louis Durazzoi, was captured by Louis (the Great) I in the course of his first campaign against Naples, so he lived in Hungary for years. At the request of the Pope, Charles was taken to Louis (the Great) I's court in 1364. In 1370 he married Margaret, the daughter of the Prince of Durazzo. The prince was executed by Louis (the Great) I. Between 1371-76 he was Prince of Dalmatia and Croatia, in 1380 Louis gave him the Naples legacy, in 1381 he was crowned Sycilian king under the name of Charles III, and on 31 December 1385 he was crowned Hungarian king. On 7 February 1386 there was a murderous attempt against him. He died on 24 February at Visegrád. He received the adjective "Little" because he was short.

Ladislaus of Naples

Little Charles, Sicilian (Naples) and Hungarian king, and Princess of Durazzo, Margaret's son, born in 1377. After his father's death the popes did not accept his right for succession in Naples. He was crowned Sicilian (Naples) king only in 1390. Till 1393 his mother ruled instead of him. In 1399 he occupied Naples. In 1403 John Kanizsai, Archbishop of Esztergom crowned him Hungarian king in Zára with a temporary crown. He died in 1414.
