The basic elements of folk costume can be found equally distributed in similar form throughout small and large geographic areas. Attire characteristic of certain regions developed from the combination of these elements. Costume has been constantly changing throughout history. Although some of the details of this process are not known today, we can still attempt to review this progression, at least in an overview.
